La Maison de Marina

It’s getting harder and harder to find impressive simplistic design but I found one today as I stumbled upon a Belgian-born designer, Marina Bautier, one of the five contributing designers for a Portugal-based furniture company De La Espada. Her take on design simplicity is fresh, witty, and delicious. Marina founded her design practice, La Maison de Marina, in 2002 in Brussels. Besides from De La Espada, she has also worked with other international furniture companies, such as, Idee (Japan), Ligne Roset (France), and Case (UK).

Caroline Swift

Caroline Swift had worked as a knitwear designer and a cake designer before she found her passion in making objects. Her studio is currently located in Bristol, United Kingdom with products range from clothing, glassware to ceramics. Her design philosophy is what makes me admire her beautiful works even more, as quoted from her website:

“Her own label is her own personal approach to design. Slow design, where care is taken and quality paramount. Slow design is not about taking ages making things; rather it is a philosophy about taking pleasure and pride in making things and passing that on.”

And, it obviously shows in all of her objects.

Fujian Tulou

I came across these amazing Chinese earthen houses or Fujian Tulou on the internet today. They were built by Hakka people in Fujian Province in China between the 13th and the 20th century. Each of them can house up to 800 people. Usually in circular or square shape, the exterior of the house is a thick earthen wall designed for fortification purposes while its interior lies an open courtyard and continuous balconies connecting each living unit. The lower portion is usually windowless and used mainly for storage.

Fujian Tulou have been inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site because of their extraordinary long-lasting, well-preserved cultural and architectural traditions that exemplify sustainable communal living and harmonious relationship with their environment.

Spring in Central Park

ไม่ได้ไปเที่ยว Central Park มานานมากๆ ภาพสุดท้ายที่จำได้ ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นวันเสาร์อาทิตย์ คนเยอะมาก มีวงดนตรีมาเล่นเต็มไปหมด สนุกดี แต่เหมือนกับว่าไปทำกิจกรรมมากกว่าไปพักผ่อน มาคราวนี้ บังเอิญมีโอกาสไปเที่ยวที่นี่ตอนบ่ายวันธรรมดา และเป็นฤดูใบไม้ผลิ เลยมีดอกไม้ขึ้นเต็มไปหมด สงบ เงียบดี นั่งอ่านหนังสือเนียนมากๆ

เคยคิดว่าไม่ชอบ Central Park เท่าไหร่ ที่แท้เราแค่ไม่ชอบไปที่ที่คนเยอะเกินไปนี่เอง
